20230803-SAG-AFTRA Strike about AI-blog-Feature_2

The highly publicized SAG-AFTRA strike has raised many AI concerns and prompted consumers to reflect on how AI may impact their lives in the future. From July 28-30, Leger surveyed U.S. consumers to understand their perspectives on the strike, and, more broadly, their AI concerns related to their jobs and whether they see a need for regulation or AI-related disclaimers.

SOME OF THE KEY HIGHLIGHTS OF OUR SURVEY ON AI CONCERNS INCLUDE…

CONCERNS ABOUT AI REPLACING HUMAN JOBS

  • 63% of U.S. consumers think governments need to regulate AI to reduce the risk of it replacing human jobs, while 37% think AI will inevitably replace some human jobs, the market will adjust, and people will find new opportunities.
  • 45% of U.S. consumers are concerned about AI replacing human workers in their line of work, while 29% are unconcerned. 19% are not looking for work/currently working, and 6% don’t know.

SUPPORT FOR REGULATION AND DISCLAIMERS

  • 55% of U.S. consumers support the government regulating the use of AI. Younger consumers aged 18-34 are least likely to support these regulations.
  • 73% of U.S. consumers support including a disclaimer with all AI-generated content so that it is clearly identified. Again, younger consumers aged 18-34 are least likely to support disclaimers.
